The Benefits of Hiring a Wedding Videographer

If you are a bride (or groom) that is on the fence about wedding videography, you have come to the right place! In this blog, we will discuss the reasons why videography is ABSOLUTELY worth the extra space in your wedding budget. We caught up with Engaged Atlanta vendor, Sean with The Shepherd, to discuss the the many benefits of having a videographer there to capture your special day! Below, you will see our Q&A with Sean. He is AMAZING; we love the time and effort that he put into this post with us (so just imagine what all he will put into your wedding videography!)

This quote from our Q&A with Sean really sums it up for us- “Your wedding videographer is such an important part of the day. My goal is to capture moments that complement the photographer's photos. Audio is critical, and something I take very seriously. Hearing your grandmother compliment your dress or hearing the flower girls wishing you a happy wedding day are moments only your videographer can capture. I build my films around those memories.” See more from Sean below!

Question 1: Why is Wedding Videography so important?

Audio is special, and it creates the narrative that threads through each of my films. Photos are separate moments in time, whereas a film gives you those memories streamlined into a cohesive work of art. The voices you hear and the music that supports each creative choice in the film separate wedding videographers distinctly from photos. My style enhances your memory of the day. And remember, your photos and video are the only way to make sure your memories stay fresh! Your wedding videographer is such an important part of the day. My goal is to capture moments that complement the photographer's photos. Audio is critical, and something I take very seriously. Hearing your grandmother compliment your dress or hearing the flower girls wishing you a happy wedding day are moments only your videographer can capture. I build my films around those memories.

Question 2: What is your videography style?

I really try hard not to have a style—haha. I don’t like to sit in one box for too long. But if I had to pick, I’d say I want the film to leave you feeling a million things and also only one thing—happiness. The video quality is the best you can find, but I wouldn’t say my films are polished. They’re raw, in your face and reflect the day as it happened. If the day was hectic, it’s hectic. If the day was calm, it’s calm. If the shot was out of focus for a moment, I include that. If the lighting wasn’t perfect, you’ll see that. What’s important is always what’s happening. You’re going to get what you paid for and whole heap of fun and emotion on top of that. And maybe that’s not what you’re looking for, and that’s okay. But I think those are the memories you want.

Question 3: What is your favorite Wedding Day moment to capture?

My favorite moment to capture on the wedding day has to be the dance floor. Everyone lets loose to celebrate the couple. I think the music choice and the dance floor vibe reflect the couple’s personalities so well. And for me, what other job ends in a party every time? Being a vendor rocks!

A lot of times we hear brides say that their wedding day was a blur. There is so much excitement leading up to your wedding, and admittedly there is a LOT going on once the big day finally comes. It can be so hard to take in every moment, but, videography allows you to go deeper than just photos and truly relive those special moments. From hearing your husband’s reaction to seeing you during your first look, to watching your first kiss and hearing the crowd cheer, videography documents all the wedding feels from beginning to end!
